The Cloisters Bike Ride is in aid of St Mary’s Church, Stansted. Our ancient and much loved village church must grow and develop to meets the needs of the 21st century. We want to build “The Cloisters” which is an exciting new development to complement our church by providing much-needed additional facilities: a children’s church; a crèche; a venue for group meetings; an overflow for larger events; a refreshments area and toilets. Each year over 2,000 people attend weddings at St Mary’s, with another 1,800 visiting for christenings and that’s not counting more than 500 people who attend Christmas services, not to mention funerals, special services and regular Sunday worship.
