CORVETTE 1953-1962 We are Claremont Corvette, specializing in parts , spares, manuals and books for the glorious early C1 Chevrolet Corvette. Effectively the United States' only two-seat sports car since 1953 when it ran a 3.8 litre straight six with triple side-draft carburettors, the Corvette now lives on in its eighth generation with a mid-mounted 495bhp all-aluminium 6.2 litre V8. The 1953 to 1962 Chevrolet Corvette has coil spring front suspension with unequal stamped steel wishbones pivoting on trunnions. Rear suspension is by solid axle on semi-elliptic steel springs with additional location bars added until the final year of production in 1962.
